Commitment to Inclusive, Safe, and Respectful Participation

The Event Accessibility & Youth Safety page outlines the standards, expectations, and procedures used by the Military Child World Expo Foundation (MCWEF) to ensure events are accessible, inclusive, and appropriate for youth participation.

This page applies to all MCWEF-hosted events, including the Military Child World Expo and related programs.

Accessibility Commitment

MCWEF is committed to providing inclusive environments that allow individuals of all abilities to participate meaningfully.

 

Accessibility Measures May Include

  • Wheelchair-accessible venues and pathways

  • Accessible seating where available

  • ADA-compliant restrooms

  • Visual and auditory accommodations when feasible

Requesting Accommodations

Participants may request reasonable accommodations during registration or by contacting MCWEF in advance of an event. Requests are handled confidentially and reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Youth Participation & Supervision

Age Requirements

  • Youth under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at applicable events.

  • Events with RSVP or ticketing requirements will specify age-related participation rules.

 

Supervision

Parents and guardians are responsible for the supervision, conduct, and safety of the youth they accompany.

MCWEF does not provide childcare or direct supervision services.

 

Youth Safety Standards

MCWEF is committed to youth safety and wellbeing.

 

All events adhere to standards that:

  • Promote respectful, age-appropriate environments

  • Prohibit harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate conduct

  • Maintain clear expectations for adult and youth behavior

Any concerns related to youth safety should be reported immediately to event staff.

Photography, Media & Privacy

MCWEF events may include photography, videography, or media coverage.

  • Registration materials may include media consent disclosures

  • Parents or guardians may request limitations on youth photography where feasible

  • MCWEF does not publish personally identifiable youth information without appropriate consent

Event-Specific Guidelines

Some events may include additional requirements, such as:

  • RSVP-only participation

  • Limited capacity

  • Special access or seating arrangements

Code of Conduct

All participants, youth and adults, are expected to:

  • Treat others with respect and dignity

  • Follow event rules and staff guidance

  • Comply with safety and accessibility protocols

 

MCWEF reserves the right to remove individuals who do not adhere to event standards.

Not a Fundraiser

Unless explicitly stated, MCWEF events are not fundraisers. Fees, where applicable, are used solely to cover event-related costs such as meals, facilities, programming, and accessibility support.
