A Shared Mission: Building the Home of the Military Child Together
Built by Community. Sustained by Purpose
The Home of the Military Child is built through a shared commitment, uniting Veteran Service Organizations, military-connected families, educators, and leaders as equal partners in belonging, continuity, and care.

The Shared Framework
The Home of the Military Child is not owned by one organization or moment. It is a living framework shaped by many hands, each contributing distinct strengths toward a common purpose.

This shared mission reflects a belief that military-connected children thrive when communities work together, across sectors, systems, and generations.

Veteran Service Organizations & Military Nonprofits
Laying the Foundation
Veteran Service Organizations and military nonprofits provide the structural foundation of the Home of the Military Child. Through coordinated services, mentorship, scholarships, advocacy, and community programs, VSOs ensure that military children are supported holistically.

In Arlington, and across the DMV, VSOs are not simply supporters they are co-builders of the Home’s welcoming environment.

“Our VSOs are helping lay the foundation, from organizing community events to providing scholarships and mentorship, they are key builders of this Home.”

Military Families & Children
The Heart of the Home
Military families and children bring lived experience, resilience, and voice. Their stories, traditions, and leadership shape the identity of the Home of the Military Child.

Families are active participants, welcoming others, sharing stories, and strengthening community bonds.
“Military parents and children are telling their stories, welcoming newcomers, and passing down traditions, together, they infuse this Home with life and warmth.”

“Our schools have opened their doors and hearts, building a consistent, caring environment every military child can call home.”
